If you search for swift transport to a dreamlike setting or peaceful retreat to soothe scattered thoughts, aim for the Grand Forest. You can walk, hike, run, or bike under a canopy of lush firs, towering cedars, sporadic maples, and bountiful conifers. Without a doubt in my mind, accessibility to the pure magic in this 240-acre woods is one of the best parts of living on Bainbridge Island
The park is divided into three parcels:
1: The West Grand Forest via Miller Road, including many winding trails (one of which leads to another favorite park, Battle Point).
2: The East Grand Forest via Mandus Olson Road, twisting onto wooden bridges and turning alongside ponds.
3: The Hilltop, between the West and East Grand Forest parcels, opening into a meadow and views of the Olympic mountains.
You can venture through the Grand Forest under clouds of mist post-rainstorm or surrounded by sunbeams cascading through the trees. Regardless of the conditions, the journey will always restore and inspire whoever wanders into these woods.
